No need to get up early today, the Welcome Address from 4WD Action doesn't start until 10am. Cruisey morning, Bacon, Eggs & Toast with coffee and chatting with the neighbours, then got ready to go over the the oval for the Welcome. Stopped in at the Travelander display for a bit more high jinks with Darren & the crew before wandering over to the main stage to find a spot to sit. It's rather hot today, got the big farmers hat on, sunscreen and brought Boris's water bowl over with us. The Welcome Address kicked off a bit late, but Roothy opened the proceeding, with Brenno & Shauno coming on a bit later. All the 4wd Action crew were there (Graham Gahill, Glen Hadden, Jamie Hazelden, Roothy, Shauno, Brenno and the film crew you see on the DVD's).

The formalities over, we were watching everyone wondering around and our conversation went something like this:
Me: "should I, no I won't bother, oh do you think I should or not"
Craig: "go on, just hurry up it's hot out here and the dogs melting"
Me: "do you think, they've got lots of people pestering them every moment since they got here, but they're not busy right now"
Craig: "hurry up and decide will you"
Me: "right bugger it I will"
I hate having my photo taken (never look good in one), but hey probably won't meet Graham again in person so what the hell. Went up to the stage where Graham, Shauno and someone else were talking, felt a bit like a school kid and silly, but excused myself got Graham's attention and asked if we could have a photo with him. Graham was more then obliging and I was happy because I got the chance to thank him for taking a look at our blog and giving me his opinion. Needed to change the lenses over on the camera, so handed Boris's water bowl to Graham to hold (thinking about what I did just now has made me laugh) while Craig had a quick chat with him, asked Shauno to take our picture. Got another one with Craig, Shauno & Graham together while the getting was good. Sadly and disappointedly, I didn't get a kiss on the cheek from Graham or even give him a little peck - it's okay Craig understands, maybe if we meet Graham again I can go the sloopy smooch!

Didn't last long for Craig, he was getting itchy feet so he went off to see if Darren wanted to go for a beer at the pub - it has to done it's the Birdsville Pub for goodness sakes. Seemed there wasn't much resistance from Darren to go for a beer and Hayden his agent was given a leave pass by the girls and allowed to join them. Craig returned to camp with the truck, it appeared the Show n Shine was over early. There's nothing happening on the programme now until 6pm, great I have time to download pictures & do some work on the blog. About then Darren reversed up next to our camp asking if we wanted to go out to Big Red and have a play with he and Hayden - I told Craig to go and take Boris so the poor little fellow could sit in the air con (the heat had been too much today and he'd thrown up after having some water), that way I would have some peace & quiet for a couple of hours to do photos and blog. Temperature was at about 44degrees C when I last looked this afternoon.
While I was downloading photos and writing the posts up on the blog, it started getting overcast and the wind blew up something terrible, dust storm is probably a better description of what was going on and I was sitting in it!! A couple of poles blew down on the awning and the fellow behind us helped me put them back up (it was a tad hard with this dust storm blowing through), the awning might not have looked pretty and even but we got there in the end. Moved the computer inside the camper while it was uploading a video onto the blog and out of the dust.
Now boy didn't arrive back until about 7pm and of course his first words were "What's for dinner". Sorted dinner out for him, but by the time we ate and chatted with Vic & Frank who were camped behind us, we had missed the Bush Cooking Challenge & Best Ever Moments videos at the oval. Adrian & Tania came back from watching the videos and we were going to head up to the pub for the readers drinks (feed Boris and he would have been happy to curl up on his bed in the camper while we were gone), but as the wind was still howling and Boris is freaking out with the high winds we decided it wasn't a good idea to go and leave him alone and not much fun for Craig to go over by himself.
So, that rounds out the day as I went to bed and Craig stayed up chatting with all the neighbours. Good Night.
