Update on us, our lives and camping

Update on Us, Life and Camping.....

Righto, so it's been awhile hasn't it!!

Now where to start, we'll make a long story short for you all shall we -  a condensed version you might say.

We moved from the coast and bought acreage in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.  Had quiet a bit of work to do on the property when we first bought it and we got married six months after buying it, at the property.  Phew that was a busy time!

We've had elderly parents to monitor/manage, then mourn a few years apart and also unexpectedly a sister in law to mourn as well 😢

Not a lot of camping was getting done, especially when the engine in the Hilux had to be rebuilt.

We did start going away every now and again for weekend camps with mates, but we were going to the same places mostly (which I know I could have updated my reviews), but I guess I was out of practice.

Early in 2023 Stork or Craig fell from a boat he was working on as he climbed off and cart wheeled straight onto the concrete below.  Luckily missed hitting his head on anything but broke his hand and did some damage to his shoulder.  Hand healed and months later we finally we got some medical investigation into why the shoulder was not right.  Turns out Craig needed to have surgery to repair 4cm and significant tears in 3 of the 4 muscles that form your rotator cuff plus needing to re-attach his bicep.  Surgery done in October 2023 and now going through rehabilitation, which is going well.

We have also upgraded my car to a Hilux Rugged X and upgraded our slide on camper to a Swag XT15 Raptor Overlander hybrid caravan - shear luxury for me with an inside toilet and shower - yippee!!

Now, probably the most saddest and heart breaking news to update everyone on is the lose of our most beautiful, goodest little boy Boris, whom we had to help cross the rainbow bridge on 28th December 2023.  Our hearts are still broken and heavy and our house feels empty and our bed not crowded these days.

Boris was 13 and half years old and had been living with Cushings Disease for about 2 years, but he had something else growing inside, so on the morning of the 28th December we just knew it was time to let him go 😭  Boris was a very well travelled little English Staffy, he'd been to Cape York to the most northern tip of Australia, out to Birdsville and on top of Big Red, Cameron's Corner and lots of places in between.  He is/was a part of our family and gave us all those years of unconditional love and loyalty 💔

We will be embarking on more camping weekends this year and even a couple of weeks off going on a road trip.  Hopefully you'll visit our blog again as I get back into practice doing reviews/stories on our travels.

We look forward to you joining us on our adventures again, so get a beer, a glass of wine or whatever takes your fancy and buckle up!

Cheers

Craig (Stork) and Tracee
